Have you ever wondered if your concealer might not be the one you really need?

It may sound like an obvious fact, but not every concealer is designed for every kind of skin. Depending on what kind of skin you have—dry, oily, combination, acne-prone, sensitive or sensitive—you will need to choose the correct concealer or product for the kind of skin that you have.

Dry skin concealers

Since dry skin tends to be less porous, foundation can usually be used without fear of your concealer rubbing through. 1. Buy a foundation

Established foundations are relatively affordable in Australia, but starting from an affordable level is where they often cost as much as the best foundations.

2. Choose the right foundation

For under eye concealer, using the skin which is right above the rim of your eye, only half an inch over the crease, or until the skin that becomes slightly yellow.

The end result of applying concealer to this area is to erase any dark circles that appear right above the rim of your eyes, without blackening up the rest of your face with too much product.

5. Buff away

When applied lightly, concealer can work as a slim-slim buffer. You can first put concealer in the centre of your face (around your nose, where skin is normal in colour), and then move the edges to frame the other areas of your face. Buff a thin layer of concealer and pat. To add in more length to your foundation, blot it with a tissue for a few seconds.

6. Set and blend

After applying, set your foundation with a foundation brush. To achieve a well-blended result, work on three areas: the center, the sides and the corners. You may also work your way to the edges and back to the center. Blend in the outer, inner, top and bottom areas and ensure that the product is blended and sealed out. Buffing is required in order to evenly distribute the setting products.

7. Perfect under eye concealer

Apply a primer for the under eye area, one that has oil-free and alcohol-free ingredients. Allow the product to be absorbed. Start with an oil-free primer such as and This will allow you to base the concealer on. Then, set it using another concealer that has oil in it. Next, apply concealer only around the edges, and set with a powder product. Add coverage to any visible areas that need it. Brush away any fall-out and blend.

A great tip to follow is to check for your brows every now and then. You can use false ones, fake lashes, pencils, pencils or brush the brows (best with brow colour)

8. Blending

Blend your concealer with a damp makeup sponge. Concentrate on making a matte, even finish, being careful not to rub the product into the skin.

Look for coverups and foundation that are easily blendable, and contain good texture and moisture.

Acne-Prone Skin

Dark spots and patches often show up on acne-prone skin. The texture of your skin can look uneven, with open spots, and your blemishes tend to get noticeably larger. To protect your skin from acne breakouts, choose concealers that are matte, and choose a lighter-medium coverage to minimize the visibility of those spots. The texture of your skin will also need to be considered, because a thick concealer can cause irritation or simply look weird on the delicate skin areas around your eyes, nose and mouth.

Which Concealer to buy

The three most important factors to consider in choosing a concealer product are product texture, type and coverage. There are three types of concealer—cream, fluid, and powder. Cream and fluid concealers generally feel more velvety and natural than powder, while powder is easier to work with. Also, it’s important to make sure you choose concealers that work with your skin type—some concealers are great for oily skin, and some are for acne-prone skin.

Powder Versus Cream Concealer

You can use both powder and cream concealer to achieve the same level of coverage with both concealers. But there are some important differences. Because it has more drying properties than a cream, a powder can be heavy on dry and oily skin. If you tend to have oilier skin, you should prefer the concealer option that has the least amount of oil (or most powder). A cream concealer blends more easily than a powder, so it’s the best choice for normal to dry skin. Make sure you select a lighter-weight concealer that is easy to blend and follow with your foundation.

Best Concealer For Dark Circles

While concealers are good to help prevent your dark circles, only a few concealers can offer enough pigment and lightweight coverage to prevent discolouration of the dark circles. You should consider going matte, as this gives your eyes a more natural, less obvious appearance, according to Cosmopolitan.

We looked at many cream concealers to find the best coverage for dark circles. Make sure you pick the concealer that best works for your skin and has a light and smooth texture. We didn’t find a concealer with the same number of dark spots as in the swatches shown, so you can see that some concealers in the photo show more spots than the swatches show. We actually spent more time testing concealers in our beauty tests to discover the exact formulation and coverage that works best for dark circles. If you can find a concealer with a lighter coverage and fewer dark spots, we recommend that concealer.

How to use a concealer

Your concealer should be a natural-looking product. We recommend choosing a concealer with less oil or powder to create the effect that you want. While thick concealer with a rougher texture can help add a natural look to dull skin, if you have oily skin, stick to a concealer with a more translucent texture to make it blendable with your foundation.

A concealer can help cover any imperfections, including acne, dark circles, wrinkles, scars, and any other blemish that you want to hide with a glowy look. When we carried out our in-depth research on the best concealer for dark circles, we selected concealers and creams based on their sheer coverage and satin finish, as this gives a glowy, clean look without covering dark circles that appear discoloured. Choose concealer according to your skin type.

For a make up base that works on both oily and dry skin, we recommend that you look for an oil-free and oil-resistant primer that doesn’t transfer or blur if it ends up on your hand. For best results, apply a primer under your foundation so that it lasts all day and dries into a natural, matte look.

To smooth out under your skin or add a level of detail to the skin, apply your concealer. Many people recommend pressing the concealer product into the skin using a blotting paper or the side of a makeup sponge. Another way to smooth out your concealer is to sweep it over the surface of the skin with a brush, applying the product in a circular motion and patting it on top of your foundation.

When applying your concealer you should use a damp tissue or your fingers (when your finger nails are small) to apply the concealer, to allow your skin to absorb as much of the product as possible. If you use a powder concealer, you can use a damp makeup sponge or cotton bud to transfer the powder to the desired spot. When you use concealer to cover spots or blemishes on your face, it is often best to use smaller, round brushes or concealer bristle-tips. If you prefer a sponge with rounded edges, choose a concealer sponge with a similar shape to the affected area.

Removing concealer and cleaning your concealer brush

It’s a good idea to clean and remove any residue from the eyes after using any eye product, including concealers. Use an eye makeup remover to get rid of the product from your eyes.

Make sure you are using a product specifically designed for your eyes, as too much eye makeup can lead to dark circles and eye irritation.

You can also use cleaning wipes, but make sure you use an alcohol-free, 100 per cent alcohol-free, jojoba-oil free tissue that is formulated specifically for your eyes.

Cleansing brushes (like foundation brushes and concealer brushes) can be difficult to clean and is best reserved for creamy or powder products. You can also clean the underside of an eye shadow brush by soaking it in warm, soapy water.

It’s not a good idea to use natural brushes to clean any kind of powder. Natural bristles tend to be thinner and pliable, so any product applied to them can wear down more quickly. Because natural products will dry out your makeup quicker, you should be using a more oily makeup, and follow a “neat” routine, which is more hygienic.

The packaging is not as durable as other lip glosses and the color is also not the most exciting one. It is, however, one of the best budget lip glosses on the market.

If you are looking for something cheap, affordable and fun, then this is the lip gloss for you. It comes in a fun pigmented color and the formula is really moisturizing and has a high gloss finish. The color is a bright, shiny coral. I haven’t found any real negatives, it is pigmented, moisturizing, easy to apply and really gives you a pouty, fresh and pretty look. The packaging is really cute and the price is right too.

Tarte Lips

This is one of the most popular lip glosses on the market. It is extremely pigmented, long lasting and has a glossy finish. It is a great option if you want to try something new and aren’t afraid to use a little product. The color is very nice and the packaging is just really cute. I do have to say that the applicator isn’t the best, it can get messy and can leave you with some product on your fingers.

Garnier Fructis Shine Shine Lip Gloss

This lip gloss is very moisturizing and has a glossy finish. The color is very vibrant, has a great pigmentation and gives a nice matte finish on the lips. It is easy to apply and the packaging is super cute and very durable. This is one of the best budget lip glosses that I own and can easily be used by any woman.

Pantene Lip Gloss in Berry Beaute

Pantene Lip Gloss in Berry Beaute is a great affordable lip gloss that is just as good as the other glosses on this list and comes in the perfect shade for every skin tone. This product is creamy, glossy and has a nice color. The formula is also easy to apply and I don’t really have any negatives to say about this lip gloss.

Rimmel Prolongwear Lip Lacquer in Lip Lacquer

This is a very affordable lip gloss that is very pigmented and long lasting. The color is really pretty, it gives you a shiny finish on the lips and the formula is super moisturizing. It has the perfect amount of gloss to make your lips shine without being sticky. The packaging is just cute and really well made. I don’t really have anything bad to say about this product.

Urban Decay Primer Potion

I’m pretty sure everyone has heard of this lip gloss and probably tried it at least once. It is a beautiful matte lip gloss that has a long lasting finish. The color is very pretty and the formula feels very natural on the lips. The packaging is really nice and comes with an applicator that you can use. It also doesn’t really leave any fingerprints on your lips, even with the sticky formula. I don’t really have anything bad to say about this product.

CeraVe Lip Balm

This is a lip gloss that feels very comfortable on the lips. It is a moisturizing lip gloss with a nice finish that also feels like you are always wearing a lipstick. The color is very natural and it feels like your lips are always naturally shiny. The formula is easy to use and has the perfect amount of gloss. The packaging is super cute and easy to store too. I really have nothing bad to say about this lip gloss.

What are the best BB creams?

In 2020 I started using the first BB creams I got in my hand – the ones with SPF15. I tried a few different types of them, all from Asian brands and found some of the more common ones like the Too Faced one (a popular one) or the La Roche Posay ones to be pretty much like foundation in the consistency.

The ones that I like the most are ones with a gel consistency – not thick or liquidy. My favorites are the ones with a matte texture.

Maybelline Perfect Cover

This BB cream comes Maybelline and the color is the one with a hint of peach. The consistency of the BB cream is matte – not liquidy, thick or slimy.

The coverage of the product is pretty good, not really too much to apply and very light. The finish is matte, the color is light and the finish is pretty smooth. It has a scent and has a medium length lasting time.

In the long run, I’d say it’s one of the best ones out there if you like matte texture BB creams

Too Faced Supercover BB Cream

The color is matte, with a hint of shimmer. The consistency is pretty much like the Maybelline Perfect Cover but a bit lighter. The coverage of the product is pretty good, not too much to apply and very light. It’s also a liquidy texture, so if you like a thicker BB cream, you might not like this one.

The finish is matte, the color is light and has a medium lasting time. It has a nice scent and has a pretty long lasting time.

La Roche Posay Pro Infallible BB Cream

This BB cream from La Roche Posay has a light color, a matte texture and a slight yellow undertone. The consistency is liquidy – not really thick or slimy, but the texture is still matte so if you’re looking for a liquid BB cream, you will like it.

The coverage of the product is really good, with a nice light coverage and a slight glow effect. The finish is matte, the color is light and it’s really light in application.

In the long run, I’d say it’s one of the best ones out there if you want a light color with a matte texture.

Revlon Superhydrating BB Creme

The color of this BB cream is very light, but with a hint of pink – perfect for fair skinned girls. The consistency is liquidy, but not slimy or thick, so it’s a good BB cream if you’re looking for a lighter and more liquidy texture.

The coverage of the product is medium, the color is light and it’s one of the most liquidy BB creams out there, with a very soft matte finish.

I’ve been asked a few times about the Best Pink Eyeshadow Palettes Of 2019 and 2020, but what about 2021?

What do I look for in a pink eyeshadow palette?

Well, I look for something that works for my skin tone, doesn’t need blending, and doesn’t break me out.

So I made a little collage of the palettes that I use at the moment to get a look that works for my skin.

I’m a big fan of the Maybelline The Falsies 2 palette, which is a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked2 palette. It’s got everything that you need in a pink eye shadow palette, plus it works really well for my skin. I also love the Essence A Peep in the Eye Palette and I use it a lot to work on my eyebrows.

As for the Too Faced Sweet Pea palette, it’s so versatile and the pigment is really rich. I used it on my lips this year and it was amazing.

I have a feeling that the Stila Midnight Fantasy palette is going to be a firm favourite for a lot of people this year, so make sure you take a look at that one too.

A lot of the palettes on this list have that light shimmer finish which works really well with a little mascara, but make sure you keep in mind if the eyeshadow crease is going to be an issue when it comes to blending.

I think you might struggle with these if your eye crease is really deep. You could try some really thick shadows and a mascara that’s a little bit darker than your normal one and see how you get on with it.

1) Make Up For Ever #1 Palette

I know, I’m a little bit late on the bandwagon with this one but I’ve been using it for a little while and it’s been going great so far.

You get ten eyeshadows with a really great formula and great pigmentation. It has a slight shimmer finish and a light-medium pink colour. The colours in this palette are pretty subtle so you could get away with just using this on your crease with no blending at all.

2) Too Faced Sweet Pea Palette

This is a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked2 Palette. It comes with ten eyeshadows which are all really pigmented and blend really well. It’s also got a bit of a glittery finish.

It’s a little harder to blend out the glitter in this palette, but I find that it’s not an issue. I think this palette could be used for both day and night wear because of how versatile it is.

3) Urban Decay Naked2

I’ve been loving the Urban Decay Naked2 palette for a little while now. It comes with ten eyeshadows in a variety of shades. They’re not too light or too dark. They’re all really pigmented and blend easily too. I’ve also found it’s the best palette I’ve used this year when it comes to applying false eyelashes.

4) Bobbi Brown Pink Collection Palette

This has the most shimmer in it but I find it works best when blended with some matte shadows. It comes with four eyeshadows in a wide range of pinks, purples and reds. It’s really pigmented and blends really well.

The color range is a bit limited

All three of these makeup brands are great, and you will be happy with any of them. The Revlon products are super affordable, and the packaging is not as beautiful as Maybelline’s packaging, but it doesn’t matter to me.
